partner final

This is your last project of the year and YOUR FINAL. It will be a total of 50 points more then any project we have done so far, so make sure it is YOUR BEST!!

Goal- Pick a partner and each of you will be drawing a animals name out of a bowl. You each will construct  small version of that animal. Once each of you have constructed your animal you will be splitting it apart and trading it's body parts to make a totally new morphed animal. Since bothe of you will be trading your animals body parts you should both end up with an animal. You started with two animals you will end with two animals.

Below are some funny pictures of morphed animals.

positive / negative

Positive and Negative Sculptural ART

Positive space- filled in space, the subject
Negative space- is the empty space surrounding the subject.

Goal- Create a small sculptural piece with both positive and negative space. When you are ready to glaze it must be (believe it or not) MONOCHROMATIC ... one color!!

You piece may be something utilitarian, decorative, abstract or representational. Whatever you choose make sure it follows there requirements.

* must be no larger then your hand
* must contain a significant amount of negative and positive space
* must be VERY light in weight
* smooth, smooth , smooth!!! or the monochromatic glazing will not have as strong of a visual effect if your construction is bumpy and sloppy.

TAKE YOUR TIME... RUSHING = POOR CRAFTSMANSHIP

Hope you all enjoyed your BREAK, now to SPRING back into ceramics!

In the spirit of spring we are going to be creating ceramic wall planters with a twist. The planter you will make will have a face. Remember the old chia pets? Well you are going to create a rendition of those past time plant vessels.
This project is considered a "slab" construction project.

Requirements for this project are as follows:

*Must be able to hang on the wall
*must have a face of some sort
*no larger then your hand
*very light in weight ( you want to use the least amount of clay you possibly can)
*must include raised and recessed relief
*must have texture
* hollow area where seed / soil will go

YOU ALL  need to neaten up on your glazing!!!
ADD MORE COLOR and VARIETY!!

Word Art

WORD ART

Each of you will make a list of 3 words that represent who you are. Be creative. Do not choose simple words like cool, or funny. Use a thunderous if you need to. Once you have made your list of 3 you will then need to figure out how you can manipulate the letters into visuals that represent those words. Once you have drawn out all of your visuals figure out which configuration would look best constructed out of clay. If I choose the word creative I may choose to change the "C" to an artist pallet and so on and so forth.
Keep in mind which direction will your letters go and how are you going to put them together. For example will your letters rest on a creative base, will they hang on a wall vertically. Please be creative and think outside of your comfort zone. Don't be afraid to try something different. REMEMBER when class you need to use more then 3 colors, and don't forget about adding patterns.
